Alexandra Squire is one of the celebrated abstract painters and artists. She is a Bethesda based self-made artist. Alexandra was a self-taught, instinctual and contemporary artist. In a world full of people who are busy with their work with high workloads and complexity, her work is about simplicity. She says “I create simple shapes and strong palettes that are bold yet uncomplicated.”
Her minimalist style is intended to make her viewers comfortable with art and have a soothing concept of art. She wants to tell people stories through her art form, more precisely she wants her style to speak for itself. She says “What my art means to me is likely very different from what it means to you, yet we can both see something compelling in it. I am not worried about keeping up with trends or rushing my process or how I evolve. I am focused on creating art that is substantial, open to interpretation, and rich with depth and texture.”
Following her heart and with a strong passion for her dreams, she left behind her career in the media to follow something scary and far more fulfilling. It wasn’t easy for a mom of young children to establish a brand-new career, but for her long-term sanity and happy life not only for her career but also for a non-regrettable life regarding her passion.
She has her art shown in several shows regionally and worldwide. She says “I have never submitted my work to juried art shows but plan to pursue this route in the near future.” This she considers being her greatest achievement.
When asked about the challenges she faced she mentioned, Trial and error were one of the challenges she faced at the beginning. Working with resin requires a certain amount of tenacity. It also requires a lot of patience, trial and error to figure out the right process for proper usage which gave her anxiety and restlessness. It took a long time to figure out exactly how to make it work. And that doesn’t even include learning how to safely ship it. On average, each piece takes 6 weeks to create. But she overcame it with consistency and continuous dedication towards her work and also towards learning new stuff.
Alexandra still has a lot more talent to express and many parts of her individuality she wishes to explore through art. If you want to know more about Alexandra Squire and her fine artwork you can check out her social media handle (link down below)
